Why I hate Digg.com

Digg LogoDigg is one of the most famous social story-sharing website (that’s what I call digg). Whatever people of the Internet likes they digg the article or the website. I still am unable to understand what is the main purpose of the digg. If you people out there who got new blogs or websites think that digg will help you increase your traffic, then YOU ARE WRONG! I had been trying with the digg to get a success over the last year but still today, believe me I’m unable to get traffic out of digg.

Digg works like a social network. If you have friends on your digg profile then you can shout out your links to them. But, the problem is all the friends you might have are professionals like you. So why would some professional writer visit your website over and over again and again? Friends are useful, no doubt about that, but only when they too promote your website. But as far as I have seen, either all my friends have their own websites which they are trying to promote or they don’t even have time to visit my website.

[ad#ad-taalz-inpost-right]The other way that I figured out what people are doing is, they ask their friends – “I’ll digg your blog articles, you digg mine!” Yes that was a nice way, but It will take you a hell lot of time to first built up such a community of friends.

Coming back to the topic that Why I hate Digg the most is: They blocked my this blog pickmore.com. And the reason that was given was bogus! First of all, I don’t usually digg my own articles. I don’t need to do such silly thing, yes I used to do it but now I don’t! Yesterday a friend of mine mailed me that told me that pickmore.com is blocked from digg. I tried it myself I got an error message saying : “This domain has been consistently flagged as violating the Digg Terms of Use and cannot be submitted at this time. Please refer to our Terms of Use (digg.com/tou) for more information.” I checked all the terms of service and FAQs but there was nothing I could get a clear hold on that why was pickmore.com banned from digg.

[ad#ad-taalz-inpost-left]So I mailed digg to find out what was the reason that pickmore.com got banned. Today I received an email reply back from digg and I was really disappointed and was amazed and shocked (and everything..) by the reply. Following is what I got from them:

Hello Talal,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us at Digg.com regarding your website.  As you know, Digg is a community-driven website – our community has consistently reported the domain to which you refer as a news middle man.

Because unblocking your domain would not be in line with the best interests of the larger Digg community, we will not reverse this decision.

For more information, please see http://digg.com/faq and http://digg.com/tos.

Ok now what the hell is a news middle man? Do they mean that I copy/paste stuff? If they mean this, then I only have to say GO TO HELL DIGG! Why would I be copying stuff from other website when I can think of my own writting. Yes I agree I’m still trying to get traffic to my blog, but I am not using any quick or hasty way to increase it. I am going slow and steady so that I can get a constant neat and clean traffic. By the way same thing has happened to pickmore.com on stumbleupon. Now I am having a doubt, that something is wrong with my domain.
