Today I faced a strange problem with my Windows Live Messenger. All my contacts appeared offline but actually they were online. I was receiving the messages from them but I wasn’t able to reply them. I thought may be there is some problem with my Messenger. I restarted my computer, even re-installed windows live messenger 2011 but still the problem was there.
I tried logging in to another account, it appeared perfectly. Then I thought may be there is some problem with Windows Live at back-end with Microsoft on some specific accounts. That wasn’t the case either. Finally I found the solution to it.
- First enable hidden file view on your system.[ad#ad-taalz-inpost-right]
- Open C:\Users\<system username of windows>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts
- Inside this folder you will find a folder named as your hotmail ID. Simply delete it.
- Now try signing in your Windows Live Messenger! Your problem is fixed 🙂

erm….You should go to the Control Panel and try to repair Windows Live Messenger…. you could try also.. (when you solve this problem) to choose to appear offline to some contacts. This is a really good thing, trust me…!!!
