  I found out that hitting return after typing in the custom name gets it recognized and it works as the alternate shortened url.  But I find it really odd that their voluminous info doesn&#039;t mention, as a memory ticker, what custom name you chose for it.

  Anyway, I wrote to you because I read about the bit.ly details at your site today  :-)
