Twe2 is a new website which started their service from UK and now gradually expanding it worldwide. Twe2 is a free SMS service for twitter. By signing up with Twe2 you can receive Direct Messages and @Replies to you from your followers right on your mobile phone in the form of SMS. I’m living in Pakistan and I signed up with this service and its looking pretty cool to me.
Twe2 service is currently limited to some of the countries. Twe2 is using Wadja Network at the backend to send twitter free SMS alerts to the users. In return the users have to bear a little advertisments from the network. Twe2 is developed by the same guys who own tweba.com and frienddeck.com

You can set the frequency of SMS alerts that you want to receive. I’m twitting all the time so I set it to 100 alerts per hour.

it is really nice to have such services in pakistan.. i have registed with this and got registration code instantly.. bt em waiting for any alert sms from this…
I had a little difficulty with it. It started sending me all the previous replies and DMs to me when I signed up. But now, I am getting all the latest ones. Still, the service is quite slow because I guess the update alert gets into the SMS queue and takes time to get delivered. I sometimes receive the update alert SMS after 6 hours when someone replies me on Twitter
What about the UK
It works in UK but I guess some UK networks are not supported.
what about the time settings? do you have to set it on your GMT ?
Just to let everyone know. Twe2 as it is now is no more!
We have sold the codebase and are effectively closing down. As part of the purchase, the userbase credentials have been completly deleted – there are no messages and no credentials are stored at all.
Twe2 is not working anymore..
I am using http://www.twitteralerts.net to get Twitter updates via SMS, Email and Yahoo Messenger. It really works and is free.
